Have your say about subsided bus services in North-East Fife

Springfield Community Council have received this from Fife Council.  We would encourage local people to respond to protect our services.

www.fifedirect.org.uk/bussurvey

In the 2016/17 year Fife Council spent over £2.1 million on supported bus services for North East Fife and we need to be sure that we continue to provide services where & when they are needed and that they represent good value for money.

We need your help to do that. We’re looking for feedback on which subsidised bus services operating in north east Fife are most important to you. We’ll be consulting from Monday 8 May until Friday 30 June 2017.

All comments received will be considered when contracts for subsidised bus routes are renewed in August 2018.

The bus services that are currently subsidised or partly subsidised in North East Fife are:

·         Moffat & Williamson – Go Flexi (F3, F4, F5, F6), 92, 92A

·         Stagecoach – 24, 77, 41, 41B, 41C, 47, 53, 64, 64A, 66, 67, 67A, 66B, 68, 68A, 68B, 94, 94A, 95

“We need people to tell us the places they want to go to by bus and when they’ll be travelling there”, said Colin Hamilton, Service Manager for Passenger Transport Services.

He continued: “Many people rely on bus services to get to work, college, health appointments and to access shopping and leisure facilities.

“I encourage all bus users in North east Fife to have their say by filling out a survey; it should only take two minutes. That way, we can make sure we’re providing services that people really need.”

During May and June, we’ll be carrying out ‘on-bus’ surveys with passengers using these routes. Surveys are also available:

New Phone Mast proposed for Springfield

The Community Council have been notified of a pre-planning consultation for a new phone mast in the village.  We understand that this is on behalf of Vodaphone/O2 – which as we know has really poor coverage.

The proposed location of the 12.5m mast is in the grass area at the corner of Main St and Crawley Crescent.

Some of the proposed plans have been posted in the Display Board outside the shop and they can also downloaded at this link (3Mb) CTIL201216_TEF74732_GA_RevC (planning).

Any comments for or against can be sent to Springfield Community Council:

Springfield Bequest response

The Community Council recently wrote to the Church of Scotland asking for more information about the Springfield Bequest, and also seeking assurances that any changes would not diminish the benefit to the community.

A response from General Trustees has been received.  Regrettably it does not provide any detail into the use the significant sum of more the £1million has been put to.  It also rejects that the community should have any input as to how it is spent.  Finally, it states that the combined parishes are the beneficiaries, not Springfield alone.

A copy of both letter is posted in the Display Box outside the shop.

The matter will be discussed at our next public meeting on 8th June 2016.

Interested in supporting Springfield?

We are looking for new members on the Community Council.  People that are interested in doing something positive for the village, and can play as part of a team.  If you have particular interests that would be great – football, any sports that can be played in the new park, bookkeeping, social media – all these things are a priority. If you’ve got other skills that would be great. Can you help?  Commitment is only 5 meetings a year, as we don’t want it to be a burden.  Contact us or just come along to a meeting (dates are on the About page).  Thanks.

Our new website

Here we are on our own website for the first time – we’ve had a lot of feedback from residents about needing to be better at reaching out with communications.  So this is part of how we are trying to do that.

We will continue to post notices and a copy of the minutes in the display box outside the village shop and also send pieces into the Springfield column of the Fife Herald.  But we will also post notices here on this website – so bookmark it etc.

We also plan to set up a newsfeed in due course – which residents can sign up for email.

Keep watching!
